It is sad that the a political party whose philosophy was once based on strength is now so obsessed with making everyone afraid.
Why does the media lean left? Because the message, „We can get through this if we all work together“ is easier to sell on a day-to-day basis than „Go hide under your bed. THEY are coming!!“. Obviously, there are audiences for both, but people turn off when doom and gloom becomes the main message for extended periods of time.

The Conservatives aren’t even the same people as Mulroney’s PCs.
There is no continuity in the „Conservative brand.“ What exists today is a completely different animal than what existed in Mulroney’s day.
Dang.
It’s amazing how quickly the actual details of history are forgotten.
The CPC has only been around for 22 years. A little more than 9 and half of those 22 years were spent in power.
They may have lost 4 elections in a row, but that’s not saying much IMHO.
At least if you’re going to talk about „conservatives“ being losers in the period since Mulroney talk about the small „c“ conservatives. Then you’ll at least be talking about something that existed.
(And no I haven’t read the article since it’s behind a paywll I can’t breach at the moment, but based on that headline and its lack of differentiating between small „c“ conservive and „Conservative“ as in the Conservative Party of Canada, I’m pretty sure I’m not off the mark here. It’s quite normal to not make this distinction and to implicitly equate what came before to what exists now, which is more incorrect than correct IMHO. Anyways… I’m probably screaming into the void here for all the good it will do. Nevertheless I’ll persist. The PC =/= CPC nor all the things that existed between them. They are quite distinct).

All fair , but I see their pickle.
Ultimately, I believe the best option. Is to chop Pierre immediately.
But
This all but gareentees a civil war in the party and most likely Carney calling the next election before the party can unify under a strong candidate.

imo the issue is the parties, how about no more parties, support the r/silverpartycanada independent MP that will run the government for their electorate not the big corps that continuously need support, bail-out or stimulus. We need to stop hypothecating our children and generate at least a balance budget. Thank you!

Going back to 2004, the Liberals have only won a Majority Government once, the same amount of times as the Conservatives.
See how fun Cherrypicked stats can be?

Which part of the current party needs the biggest adjustment? The envelope stuffed full of cash old stock conservative? The capitulate to the USA as well as embrace christo-fundamentalist alliance party of Stephen Harper? Or the full embrace and destruction of parliamentary democracy branch of Preston Manning’s reform party? Or all three of this coalition party?
