    1. From reporter Jennifer Bendery:

hey snapped. They stared off into space. They zipped into Senate elevators and smiled as the doors closed with them safely inside.

This is how nearly a dozen Senate Republicans reacted Wednesday when asked the simplest question: Do you plan to attend President Donald Trump’s military parade in D.C. on Saturday, and are you comfortable with its estimated $45 million price tag?

We have senators? I was under the impression Congress had disbanded

    3. >“I appreciate the Army and the fact that they’re 250 years old.”

This is the type of answer an 8 year old would give you.

„Freak Out“ implies they are upset about it. They just know it looks bad, but won’t even say that out loud. This will just be another „reason“ to cut services from the federal budget.

    5. “I answered the question I wanted to answer!“

Ladies and gentlemen, your representatives in Congress.

    6. yrotsihfoedisgnorw on

They didn’t „freak out“ as much as they went silent in order to not make any lists.

Ah whatever, these are just politicians. Beholden to their donors, scared as hell. They’re just like corporate yes men, they’ll agree with the boss at all costs cuz it’s their job if they don’t. You can’t have a spine and be a Republican politician. You’ve gotta bend the knee if you want the lifestyle.

I fear this military parade is cover for bringing in military equipment to protect trump and prevent him from ever leaving office

I’m so confused. Why did they even bother getting elected in the first place if they didn’t want to do the job? I mean ACTUALLY do it.

When I used to help train beginning teachers and they would come to parts of the job that really sucked, I would have to tell them that, “I agree, it’s not great. That said, it is part of our job so if you don’t want to do it, then you will have to quit teaching and find another job.”

Same thing goes for these members who don’t want to do their jobs in Congress. AND they are getting paid WAY better than any teacher in the country.

    10. The best outcome for this particular clown show would be an unexpectedly tiny crowd, near empty review stands, and the total absence of anyone to attend, comment on, protest, or otherwise mention such a mind-bendingly embarrassing claptrap of an „event.“

Ignoring it completely is the appropriate response.

Possibly a poor place to out this but a couple of points:

When some state gerrymanders its congressional districts it is a national issue, not a local one.

When votes are suppressed in some far away state is is still your issue.

“I won’t be here in town, but I wish I was,” lamented Sen. Deb Fischer (R-Neb.).

They. Do. Not. Care. There was zero „freakout“. Did the German SA complain to Der Führer about his parades? Come on.

What a bunch of complicit cowards. Each one of them are more scared than the next to say anything about orange Hitler’s ego stroke. A fucking disgrace.

Can you imagine being a senator right now? You do literally nothing for 6 months and collect 6 figures.

It has to be one of the best jobs in America. I can’t imagine why there is no opposition

    16. Wonder how many starving children could be fed for this amount. Or how many people who could be on healthcare. Or how many people whose student debt could be forgiven. Or how many homeless people we could house. Or even how many more veterans we could honor and help support through even more medical care for that amount of money.

If they dissent against the party line, superpacs take their funding and primary another candidate who will be loyal.

We no longer have 3 branches of government. We’re quickly heading to one party rule funded entirely by billionaires. Only the party narratives matter. Policy that financially benefits the few with wrapping paper that caters towards „solving“ the manufactured outrage they create. Destroy the economy so they can consolidate their power further, foment violence and civil unrest so they can consolidate power further, purge the government and install loylists in key positions. Align themselves with other dictators with similar goals in mind for their territories.

What kills me is these senators are getting nothing in return. None of the policy they harp on – nothing!

    19. CurrentlyLucid on

I am sure it will be more than 45 million. GOP in front of your name just means chickenshit bastard these days.

    20. Mrbigdaddy72 on

It’s gonna cost way fucking more than that after all the damage done to the roads and infrastructure due to tanks rolling down the streets. We build cheap ass roads not meant for the weight or the treads of tanks. That’s what most states ban tire chains cuz they chew up the roads. Wtf do think a tank is gonna do to the road.

    21. He has no problem spending taxpayer money on himself while taking food out of children’s mouths. What a pathetic human!!!

    22. Groundbreaking-Ice12 on

Sending the national guard to la was ~150 mil….this will cost HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS

    23. involuntarilyobtuse on

How are they going to cut funding for veterans services and spend tens of millions on a fucking parade? Our military is for protecting our country, not a prop for a little bitch’s bday. WTF. And we’re the ones paying for it because as he likes to brag, he doesn’t pay taxes.

    24. DrSkyler2020 on

Those spineless roaches are afraid they will be voted out of office. Run and scurry away…

    25. RobbyRock75 on

Don’t forget the Army has agreed to cover any damages to the streets as well.

hope they are designed for 70 ton tanks !

    26. bleat_bleat_bleat on

Cutting child cancer research is important, but you can’t cut a useless dictator parade. Republicans need to stand up for the constitution, they are pathetic

    27. Those baby’s in Africa who now have AIDS because of DOGE savings will surely appreciate how the saved money is well spent.

    28. Imagine how many Service Connected Veterans you could treat for $45 million.

    29. Cognitive_Offload on

Bruh… What? I thought it was going to be some Southern Comfort and a tailgate party.

    30. Army is suppose to be apolitical and so much for stopping useless spending

    31. Wait until they see the repair bill for all of the streets damaged by tanks after the parade.

    32. Wait..sending 4k troops to Cali is costing $134M…

      Ahhh it’s MAGA math….nevermind
