    1. Your first mistake was getting into a BMW 750L thinking it’s a 1200 dram taxi to the airport

    2. If u read in this sub, we always warn about airport taxis….you should have not paid the 20k and called the police on site….

Yeah these guys will rob you blind. Charge 30 usd to split between the group and then make it 30 each on arrival and whatnot. It’s a usual scam I think.

    4. Definitely report him to the police, but the problem is that you need evidence to support your claim.

First off I’m sorry you have to deal with this.

You can do something much simpler next time to save you all this headache.

If anyone ever threatens by “calling the police” for something like this, just say please do. Do me the favor. I insist.

They will not call the police, take their money and fuck off.

    6. The government really needs to crack down on these scum. These lowlives jump on you like a pack a hyaenas as soon as you exit the airport.

Also thanks for talking action, maybe if enough people start reporting these assholes the government would take action.

For future and everyone else reading this, use a service like Yandex or GG for taxi in Armenia, especially if you are not local or speak fluently.

This will ensure that the price is agreed upon upfront, and allows you to pay with credit card meaning if they try to ask you for more, you can just say you already paid and don’t have cash on you.

I had colleagues come from Europe and arrived at 4am. Their driver made them pay 60,000 dram to get from the airport to their hotel in the city center. Can’t trust these guys.

    8. They used to wait inside the airport, but now they’re right outside the door. If the police sees them soliciting they’ll get in trouble so what they’ve been doing is working with a spotter who will offer you the ride then take you to his friend the taxi driver.

I’m sorry you went through this, it’s really a terrible first impression and I appreciate you reporting it. They’re trying to get rid of them so it should help. Hope the rest of your trip will be better.

    9. Yandex taxi works very well there. I had the pleasure of being passenger of a 35 year old jetta with a floor hole covered by a carpet and what seemed to be a bent rear axle. Very fun, and very cheap as well. Marshrutkas are also a thing there, but unless you speak Armenian or Russian that’s going to be more difficult to use.

      TLDR just use Yandex Taxi

    10. you should not have paid that much. That is not a reasonable amount by any means. Happened to me once in Belgrade, I said i wasn’t going to pay then he came down by half. still overchargedme but no longer scammed me

    11. Download yandex taxi or gg taxi they are the best apps in Armenia for taxi services. Personally when I went I used it a few times but I had my own car
