# “any country that is actively harming Canada’s economy” with tariffs and protectionism.“
You mean, like Canada imposing 100% tariffs on Chinese’s EVs for no reason?
I haven’t seen China „actively harming Canada’s economy“ in any way besides replying to our own tariffs and protectionism.
You know I’m going to have to agree with Farnworth on this one.
I understand the economics behind the decision but still find myself disappointed to say the least. I would have preferred this going to a European shipyard in line with the purchase of several BC ferries ships in recent years. Or perhaps even South Korea as they are the second largest shipbuilder in the world that would likely remain competitive in price and timeliness.
The province would have done well to support a higher cost if it meant avoiding having a geopolitical rival build ships critical to BC’s Infrastructure.
