Didn’t the editors of The Nation refuse to endorse Harris? These lazy ass both-sidesers are as much to blame for losing Democracy as the redneck Jesus Freaks who actively cheer for this.

    2. I think we’re past danger. These riots are manufactured. This is them just speeding up the timeline to call Martial law. This was part of the plan. This is part of project 2025 secret plan.

The way they’re acting on immigration is a cover story to get rid of the people they really want to get rid of.

    3. No, it’s not “in danger,” dipshits. We’re not watching “encroaching authoritarianism.” We’re IN IT. He is deploying the military into a US city to enforce his deportation of brown people. Like, stop waiting for a line to be crossed: it has been crossed. No, mid-west voters do not need investigative pieces in the Atlantic or wherever trying to understand their motivations. We KNOW what is happening. There is a plainly racist, decrepit dictator at the head of the world’s most successful democracy, and he and his virulent racist followers are hell-bent on destroying everything around them. The end.

    4. The LA protests today and the Attack on the Capitol on January 6 have one thing in common, Donald Trump caused them both to happen.

It was „in Danger“ all of last year and in mortal danger after the Election.

We’re well past „in Danger“ now and far into „Democracy is over“.

Wake the fuck up and stop sanewashing and softsoaping this shit, please.

    6. What exactly does he think the Marines are going to do here. If he doesn’t activate the Insurrection act they can’t take prisoners or detain anyone, besides these are people trained for war, not really riot control.
Also, where the hell are they going to sleep.

In addition to that, California has cancelled all contracts for ICE detention in state, so it’s up to ICE to find somewhere to detain any prisoners they do collect, their options on jails and detention centers is going to be very limited.

So here’s what’s likely to happen, there will be some minor skirmishes and protesting, dumpsters and road signs will occasionally be lit on fire, there will be some pepperball shots and tear gas and some various outbreaks of isolated violence that the media will hype up as the end of western civilization.

Meanwhile, on planet reality, 99% of the time these soldiers will be in full tact gear, outside in the heat sweating, and resting on a riot shield while collecting overtime pay.

How long this occupation lasts? Who’s to say. Will it escalate? I have no idea, but this is the very likely outcome for the foreseeable future.

Take a good look at it, each truck, each vest, each tear gas can, every officer in uniform standing around doing nothing? That’s why you don’t have healthcare.

No one with any serious power cares about dangers to our democracy or they would have started fighting years ago. They will care when unfettered capitalism is in danger and their generational wealth is threatened. America sucks.

Great reason to dissolve the Corps on the other side of this mess. If theyre going to be the enforcement arm of an unconstitutional new orxer, America doesnt need them.

I’m in absolute despair, watching from Canada. I am just so devastated for my American friends. I remember the morning after the election, saying it was truly going to be bad, and being told I was over-dramatic. Those people are silent now.

    10. we knew democracy was in danger the second he was elected for a second term, this is absolutely no surprise

Danger? That ship has sailed when he was reelected after attempting a coup on Jan 6th.

    12. When cancer spread to my dad brain, lungs bones and liver the doctors didn’t say there was a risk. They said to say goodbye.

      Say gnite folks.

Under the desk news had the best suggestion: what if everyone just goes home and the marines show up to empty streets? Not much of the sideshow he hopes for if there’s no one there.
