Poilievre is profoundly not capable of being a leader.
Without a consensus, issues that happened to Harper will happen again; anytime the government wanted to approve a major pipeline without Indigenous approval, the Indigenous took it to the courts and took years to settle. Hence why Harper had no pipelines built.
Moe Sihota noted this on CBCR1 this AM: *consensus does not imply unanimous consent*, consensus is clear majority agreement. It is general, widespread agreement.

And as Moe noted, that’s likely impossible and it’s not what consensus means.
Phew, we really dodged a bullet when this guy lost the election, and his seat. Shame it’s only becoming clear now, and not a year or two ago, that he is grossly incompotent.
Best guess, if he had won, they would try this nonsense and get stuck in court for 5 years on every project, effectively ending any faint idea of a pipeline or other cross-province projects. Not only would provinces be fighting them, but the indigenous and other land owners would be.
Nothing to see here, just another right-winger gradually taking off the mask and being more and more blatantly anti-democracy as we go. What else is new?
Consensus is only needed when the industry doesn’t spend millions of dollars lobbying the party for friendly policy.
This is a no brainer for the CPC, the oil industry is the parties biggest financial backer, so they get whatever they want.
Maybe Canadians should pull up their bootstraps and start lobbying the parties for policies that help Canadians? Instead we complain and vote, without offering our representatives large financial incentives, why should they do anything for us?
It makes perfect sense.
Politics should not be a lifelong career. Elected officials (let alone unelected citizens) should not be allowed to fix themselves in the halls of power of a nation.
Last I checked it was that exact point of view that resulted in the Supreme Court kicking the shit out of Harper’s policies.
Conservatives need to get with the bloody times here. You need consensus or you’ll waste time and money fighting (and losing) in court.
Consensus is needed, as its what makes these things move along with the speed everyone wants and now expects. Consensus meaning that most people, or most people involved are on board and actively pushing forward. Driving something forward without consensus is where roadblocks and court challenges come from.
The LPC and CPC have a lot in common right now, but I think this is illustrative of the key difference: the LPC seems to want to move forward together, while the CPC is willing to run over someone’s foot to move forward.
Consensus = stability, lack of consensus = lack of stability.
No one cares what Poilievre says anymore. If the dude was a bona fide Canadian he’d be humbly acknowledging the fact that Carney is doing exactly what he’d have done as PM and congratulating him on making the right choices.
This is why he is losing his base.
Hey Pepe Polliviere, no consensus is needed to prove that you’re not even relevant in your own riding anymore. You have to have someone step aside and give them yours because you can’t win one through a fair electoral process.

Man I hate to agree with Poilivere but here we are. He’s absolutely right that the federal government should not be waiting for provinces to get on board in order to do something that is entirely within federal jurisdiction.
