It goes without saying, DON’T SPEAK TO ANYONE ABOUT YOUR CRYPTO PORTFOLIO.
Discuss price and projects if you want to, but never discuss or confirm holdings.

tldr; The article discusses the rise of ‚wrench attacks,‘ where criminals use physical violence to force cryptocurrency holders to reveal their wallet passkeys. A recent case in New York involved a crypto investor tortured for 17 days. These attacks, often involving kidnapping and torture, are increasing as Bitcoin’s value rises. Experts attribute this to the public nature of crypto ownership and the ease of targeting individuals compared to traditional banking systems. Crypto holders are advised to enhance security and avoid flaunting their wealth publicly.

You definitely need to be careful, but to be fair, there’s only been a total of 17 similar „wrench attacks“ cases, since the existence of Bitcoin in the last 16 years, in the entire world.
That’s fewer wrench attacks in the entire world in 16 years, than bank robberies in just the US in a single year, by a very large margin.
You can also look at just a single US city, and the numbers in a single year in just one city of violence and assault in jewelry theft, and it also dwarfs Bitcoin’s numbers in its entire existence for the entire world.
And these also involve kidnapping, tying up jewelry store clerks, assault, etc…
You still have to be careful with BTC.
But it’s definitely easier to find ways to be discrete about your BTC holdings.
