The Federal government holds all responsibility for enforcing immigration law. State and local do not legally have to involve themselves. The US Constitution clearly states that. Good on Glendale and California for complying with the US Constitution!

This is the correct move. Remember everybody, the federal government cannot legally force compliance. It cannot force you to say what you do not want to say; it cannot force you to reveal what you do not want to reveal; it cannot take your home, or your property, or your life without due process.

Oh man I used to live a block away from this building. Super proud of them! Wish I was still there to show my support in person.

Blue states should start arresting ice agents for kidnapping. Fight fire with fire. Fuck them.

Been three day banned, I am not afraid. I will not go quietly into the night. I’ll at least kick and scream while dragging my feet.

What happens with everyone they already had detained there? Do they get crammed somewhere else?

    8. If protesting is all takes for Glendale to get rid of their corrupt cops, then protests work

    9. Sorry, is this a good thing? The way I read this is essentially “Glendale won’t house immigrants, meaning immediate deportation.”

Not American, please correct me if I’m wrong

Armenians know what genocide and tyranny look like, don’t bend the knee.

This is a tricky one for me.

Ideally this is great, local push back against ICE should be supported and making their job as difficult and inefficient as possible is a good way to starve the beast. Local resources should not be used for their violent authoritarianism.

On the other hand, these detainees are going to be put *somewhere* and I suspect the conditions at a local jail are going to be far better than at some of the detention centers we’ve been hearing about. So I feel bad for the migrants who will suffer.

Ultimately that suffering is on ICE and the Trump administration.

This will be a nice thing to cite whenever someone regurgitates propaganda about how protests don’t accomplish anything
