From the article. „This is what nearly half the country chose for the rest of us. And it doesn’t seem like anyone is embarrassed about it.“

They’re not only not embarrassed by it, they love this stuff. They think the military attacking liberal protestors is awesome. They think all this stuff is awesome until personally affected (even then they excuse it and say it will get better).

They’ll never be embarrassed. This is what they wanted and most of them think it’s great entertainment. We’re not dealing with serious people with any kind of critical thinking, period.

Bold of the writer to assume they are even a little embarrassed of what Trump is doing

„Be so for real“ Are y’all gonna be coping and seething for the next 4 years straight?

    4. They’re loving it. His redneck base have a hard on for hating California and are probably absolutely elated protests against ICE are now considered acts of rebellion. It is distracting them from the reality he will screw them over soon enough and are likely waiting for the next reason on how all of this is Biden’s or Obama’s fault.

According to them, yes it is. Because the worst republican is better than any and every democrat, because democrats are going to destroy the country and the economy. This is what they have been told for 50 years and they believe it.

If it “owns the libs” they don’t give a single f… care. That’s just the bottom line. You’re dealing with people who have a reading comprehension level of K-5. They love their third grader president. He GETS them! /s

Will secession ever be an option for those who actually want a functioning administrative government?

    8. If you vote for Republicans in 2026, you’re voting for protest to be labeled rebellion and for the army to be deployed against citizens.

I despise Trump, but holy shit this column is so badly written. Grammatical errors are so frequent that it hurts my brain. „By a Democrats“ is in a sentence! Reddit flagged it as a grammatical error…

The USA today opinion editor needs to do their job because this article makes the opposition look idiotic.

    10. „Think about how stupid that makes the country look.“

Good news, the US already looked like the movie Idiocracy. It doesn’t make a difference anymore.

Obviously, I’m horrified by everything going on in American politics, but what garbage heap did the author pull “Be so for real” out of? No one in the history of the English language has ever used this construction. “Be for real,” yes.

This is exactly the government I voted for not the p**** liberal Democrats

What’s being missed is propaganda and the unfortunate tendency of Americans/humans to generalize wide swaths of the population. Trump and friends have firmly built on years of Fox News and conservative radio efforts to push the idea the opposing side is full of awful, maybe evil liars. Trump built on this of course with the election fraud claims where now the country has two alternate versions of a major American event. Trump has been aided by years of Federal government officials failing the American people creating a credibility gap and some popular media publications running critical stories on him that were kinda weak like the false story about criticizing dead soldiers from WWII or focusing on „shithole nations“ rather than far more substantive stuff. What it seems a lot of posters on reddit seem to forget is you’re susceptible to the same bullshit, and a lot of us have. I can look back at some of my thoughts and posts during covid and admit, yeah I went off the deep end a bit and some of the arguments I was making weren’t the most sensible.

The reality is if we genuinely want half a shot at change we’re going to really need to understand what and why the opposing side thinks what it does, that is how you have conversations and change people’s minds. Writing people off, pretending no one can change is accepting defeat. It’s also just not real. Even if your categorizations of Trump voters are largely correct, there’s probably at least 10-15% of the electorate that can be swayed.

The only thing conservatives care about is owning the libs, even if the get owned too.

All those horrible policies that cut off Medicaid and reduce Snap and hurt them, they’ll cheer them on if they show that it’s hurting the people they hate.

Meanwhile their billionaire donors are laughing all the way to the bank.

All they want is for Donald to do or say anything so they can agree with it.

He could shit on their chest and they’d say “this is what I voted for”

Okay. The previous administration lied about everything and when confronted they denied it. Now they’re coming out of the woodwork to pile on Joe Biden’s OBVIOUS mental decline that they previously covered up. They lied about the border. They lied about Hunter and his laptop. They lied about EVERYTHING. Then they INSTALL the village idiot to replace Joe Biden while claiming that Trump is a threat to democracy, which is so ironic because Kamala didn’t win a single vote in any primary. Then they start lying about how smart she is when it is obvious to even the most casual observer that she doesn’t know anything nor has she accomplished anything in her life. Then the democrats start talking about Trump being old and tired when in reality NOBODY can keep up with him. Meanwhile, the only people still watching legacy news outlets are the people on this sub, and they are being fed a nonstop barrage of BS about everything. Like, remember when Trump mandated that drug companies were mandated to sell drugs in the USA cheaper than anywhere else in the world? Obviously that’s a bad idea, right? Or locking down the border. Does anyone actually believe Biden did a good job on border control? Yet how is it reported? The US will likely require a decade or two to recover from the criminal impact of this predominantly male influx of people into the country, not to mention the military threat that we imported during this time. I don’t know why any of this is contentious or controversial. But I suppose it takes being directly victimized to “get it”, and even then some people will never get it. I can go on, but suffice it to say that Trump doesn’t get everything right, but he is much more transparent and accessible than any democrat will ever be, and he gets it right way more often than not. So to answer the question, yes, Trump is awesome and he is absolutely crushing it as POTUS.

    18. Unfortunately, they’ve all been brainwashed into thinking “wokeness” is worse than the current situation.
