Yeah no shit, we were all screaming about it at the time.
Reported by WaPo:
[White House security staff warned Musk’s Starlink is a security risk — Starlink satellite connections in the White House bypass controls meant to stop leaks and hacking.](https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2025/06/07/starlink-white-house-security-doge-musk/)
>Elon Musk’s team at the U.S. DOGE Service and allies in the Trump administration ignored White House communications experts worried about potential security breaches when DOGE personnel installed Musk’s Starlink internet service in the complex this year, three people familiar with the matter told The Washington Post.
…
The people said those managing the systems weren’t able to monitor such connections to stop sensitive information from leaving the complex or hackers from breaking in.
…
“Starlink doesn’t require anything. It allows you to transmit data without any kind of record or tracking,” this person told The Post. “White House IT systems had very strong controls on network access. You had to be on a full-tunnel VPN at all times. If you are not on the VPN, White House-issued devices can’t connect to the outside.”
>A full-tunnel VPN connection protects all data that’s sent and received and can also monitor or block any content.
>“With a Starlink connection, that means White House devices could leave the network and go out through gateways. … It’s going to help you bypass security,” another person said.
If true, this is a massive security breach. The White House has strict protocols for a reason..bypassing them with Starlink, whether intentional or not, is reckless. Who had access to that data?
So is anything going to be done about it? Now that Musk is no longer the First Lady. Or is doge just still allowed to do whatever they want
Surprising absolutely fucking nobody. DOGE is a state-sponsored operation to illegally scrape private data from government servers.
Just imagine how much secret info he has on the President and his family. Doesn’t have to even be true, but anyone could now believe Elon when he says „i have direct proof“. Trump created his own exploitable weakness.
If this is True and if democrats regain control there should be a special council to investigate.
I eagerly await GAO’s report(s) on DOGE. I hope these transmission events occurred early enough that GAO could investigate them. But GAO itself, as a congressional agency, is in a difficult position as the House and Senate are in Republican hands.
Edit: multiple (separate) reports are expected for at least Treasury, SSA, OPM.
It’s hilarious how there’s no one in this administration who gives an actual shit. They’re too busy focusing on terrorizing communities and ripping families apart.
Oh wow how could installing backdoors into our govt to the world’s most richest and unstable man have gone wrong??? If only millions of people warned the other side that this would happen.
*shocked Pikachu face*
Wow, so it’s like when we said they shouldn’t be trusted, we were right?
So now that Musk has all the data and Trump and Musk have broken up… what happens now?
Every doge employee has to be investigated thoroughly. I don’t trust any of them.
Fucking starlink terminal on the roof, but Jimmy Carter’s solar panels couldn’t stay.
Meanwhile, our national media is on day 25 of the “Joe Biden was really old“ scandal.
Who is the security risk now? Effing traitor clown he needs to be removed.
Glad it wasn’t Hillary’s emails or else we’d have to open an inquiry. Carry on.
And now the little techies with no security clearance or oversight have your Social Security number, your complete work history and income. Your birthdate and the names of all of your relatives. Just a matter of time until one of them starts selling list.
It’s gonna take a long time to even figure out all the ways he fucked us and our democracy.
This is worth espionage charges. Like Julius and Ethel levels of trouble.
Those are some buttery emails….
So much uproar over Signalgate, but this is so much worse. Every single person who connected to that Starlink terminal put national security at risk.
How is this not treason..?
While it may have been Musk that initiated this happening, it was under Trump’s watch. This is just more hard evidence of why Trump is not fit to serve as America’s president in 2025.
He doesn’t understand tech and modern culture enough to run a modern-day democracy.
Not to mention his age. All of the destruction he is doing to our government and to our country, he will never have to live in it. He will be long dead and gone while all of us are living in the dystopia he’s creating.
We need a young president, who is forced to live in the country they control, and have to face the public after their presidency. It’s 360° accountability. Not only to the American citizens, but to themselves.
Are they even aware of the damage this caused? Nothing in our government or private information is secure and it will take DECADES to rid ourselves of the damages caused by the biggest data/security breach in the history of our country. And to think it was done with the blessings of an incompetent president and a compromised Supreme Court.
And nothing will be done about it so what’s the point?
I think they didn’t just do it at the White House but at every agency they took over. T gave Muck whatever access he wanted since he bought his way there.
I believe the correct term is *stole* data, not transmitted it.
Of course he did.
Aren’t there laws and repercussions around spying? I mean, just because he hasn’t sold any intel (that we know of) the apparatus is there.
I keep reading this part over again. What the actual fuck?
>Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesperson for the Secret Service, told the *Post*, “We were aware of DOGE’s intentions to improve internet access on the campus and did not consider this matter a security incident or security breach.”
Yes, we all remember when the whistleblower came forward. The one that saw all the Russian IP addresses they were opening connections to in the firewalls etc
Russia is hard tapped into their new proxy state. Wake up Americans. Gestapo/KGB has arrived on your streets
Musk better shut up about Trump or he’s likely to find himself in a prison cell.
Trump can claim (rightly) that he had no idea what DOGE was doing and blame Elon for doing all sorts of illegal things now.
I wonder what kind of Executive Order would give Trump the right to strip Elon of his Billions? The government sure could use the savings.
At what exact point do we get to sue and arrest people : asking Reddit legal beagles r/Law
Do you think media and conservatives would be this quiet if Biden did this or Hunter?
Wait, the guy who owns Starlink put a Starlink on Starlink’s biggest customer?
That’s so crazy
Apparently Musk’s next business venture is Pet espionage Inc where furry friends fetch classified info.
“Tomorrow,” an old veteran commando said with a knowing smile, resting a hand on Elon’s trembling shoulder, “we send you to space.” He gestured toward the smoke-choked sky, where stars barely pierced through the haze of battle-scarred ruins.
The next day, they led him to the launchpad. A modified ICBM stood tall before him, its metal shell hastily repainted. On its side, the grinning face of Marvin the Martian smirked beside bold, stenciled letters: “MARS BOUND.”
The pod attached to the missile had been fitted with life support, just enough to ensure he’d remain conscious long after Earth’s gravity had relinquished its grip. The process was entirely automated: a steady climb through the atmosphere, booster rockets igniting in sequence, propelling him further and further from the planet that had rejected him. At the final stage, the pod would detach, leaving him to drift, an exile cast into the very void he had dreamed of conquering.
Elon’s breath came in shallow gasps as he was strapped in. His heart pounded like a war drum.
A scientist leaned over the hatch, sealing it shut with a hiss. He lingered for a moment, his face unreadable. Then, with a half-smile, he said, “Send a postcard from Mars, will ya?”
The final latch locked. The countdown began.
“Ten.”
Elon’s hands clenched into fists. This wasn’t happening. There had to be an override, a way out. But there was nothing…no buttons, no levers, no failsafe.
“Nine.”
The engines rumbled beneath him, an ominous growl. His breath came faster, his chest tightening.
“Eight.”
A bead of sweat slid down his temple.
“Seven.”
His entire life had been about control, controlling markets, controlling people, controlling the future itself. Now, he had none.
“Six.”
A choked whimper escaped his throat.
“Five.”
The vibrations intensified. His harness dug into his shoulders.
“Four.”
From the observation deck, the onlookers watched with grim satisfaction. There were no cheers, no jeering… just quiet, resolute judgment.
“Three.”
The final engines roared to life.
“Two.”
His fingers dug into the armrests.
“One.”
Fire erupted beneath him, and the world became sound and fury. The force crushed him back into his seat as the missile streaked skyward, leaving behind the ashes of the empire he had once ruled.
From the ground, the people watched the fiery trail ascend, piercing through the last remnants of smog and debris.
“There goes the last billionaire,” someone murmured.
High above, past the thinning atmosphere, Elon felt the crushing weight lessen as gravity loosened its grip. His body went light. The pod shuddered as the final boosters engaged, sending him further into the abyss.
Then, silence. The last stage detached, and the hatch unlocked with a soft hiss.
He was free.
No, he realized. He was untethered.
Slowly, he unbuckled himself, his movements shaky. The Earth, a blue and broken sphere, hung in the void behind him. Ahead, only endless darkness. His life’s dream, reaching the stars, making humanity a multi-planetary species, had been granted to him.
But not to humanity.
Just to him.
Alone.
Elon drifted forward, his breath fogging the inside of his visor. He tried to focus on Mars, somewhere out there, waiting.
The vast nothingness surrounded him.
His final wish, granted
This could have so many repercussions further down the line by means of blackmail .
Imagine future political candidates being blackmailed with making all their private affairs public from health to taxes ect .
Imagine the blackmail that could be achieved by asking for contracts /freebies if they don’t sell the info to other countries .
They were warned this would happen , there is no excuse.
Musk is not the richest man in the world just by sitting back on his laurels .
But what about her emails??? 🙃
If the US actually *did* have any secrets left that were still secret, we sure don’t anymore.
Now that’s hilarious.
