Colin Farrell, one of the most handsome movie stars of the day, went through repeated 8-hour makeup sessions to look like Richard Kind. If that didn’t boost your career, I don’t know what would.
I’m always pleasantly surprised when he shows up in something.
I met him once at a restaurant. He was with Jonathan Banks (Mike Ermantraut from Breaking Bad). As they walked by I said “Love your work Mr. Banks”. He stopped and said “Why thank you”. We had some small talk and he said “tell this guy (Richard Kind) how much you love my acting”. Richard walks over and my wife says “We loved you in Scrubs”. I was floored as that’s probably his least famous role. Richard said “Scrubs!?! I was in that for like two episodes” then turns around and walked off. He didn’t find it amusing but Jonathan laughed his ass off. Both seemed like very nice down to earth people.
