I think it’s also strategic. I think they’ve read the country fairly well and know the majority of voters want rapid change and are sick of the platitudes from the previous government. I think it does have a shot of getting messy, but I think there’s a chance voters look at what the Feds are trying to do and hold others accountable for slowing it down. It’s certainly a unique situation – in my 40 year lifetime, at least.
Still incredibly odd the party with no mandate from the people since 2011 wants to dictate when the government schedules the budget. If they wanted a spring budget they needed to offer people more than Anti-Ukraine and anti-immigration for the last 3 years
Capitalizing on decades of stagnation and performative PMs, he’s dialed in on Canada’s desire for economic progress and pragmatic solutions. So far, so good. Couple blunders from his Cabinet on messaging, hitting some resistance on the budget, but none of that is beyond easy remedy.
