Edit: For those downvoting, I don’t think it’s controversial to have mixed emotions about Eminem in 2025. A lot of his work is homophobic and he basically gave young men a permission structure to be homophobic. That’s without getting into all the nasty violent imagery about women.

I imagine that Meta will settle without going to court. This appears to be very specifically unauthorized storage and use of his catalog, which seems a fairly obvious (if true) win for Eminem.
What I’m more interested to see is how courts come down on feeding artists’ work into AI, where the AI won’t be reproducing their work per se but will be using it to generate new material. Or plagiarize for new material. That is going to be a very consequential legal battle I suspect.
Em is wrong on this one. This is not just about ai but use of music in things like Instagram reels. Sucks to say but meta is in the right of this one. Cases like this may soon be effected by the Supreme Court. If Eminem wins it could be on the service provider not the uploaded for copyright infringement. That would be a massive blow to the internet.
