I’m not sure why so many people are so desperate to have a Reform government as fast as they possible can…
Well of course he would he wants a Soviet style workers collectives with a Politburo at the top, conveniently he sees himself sitting on said politburo.
What the UK needs is a proper left wing option right now, but with a competent leader who can actually talk to the media properly.
Basically Corbynism without Corbyn or indeed McDonnell at the helm.
Starmer has done more for the country in a year than the tories did in 14 so of course the left wing want to sabotage him and end up with the conservatives again. Can’t possibly have the country improving.
McDonnell ought to have some self-awareness. He’s not going to be the face or the brains of the British left

Not surprising… but who wants the Corbyn years all over again? Would be an absolute gift to Reform. That said Reform win would suit McDonnells agenda in my opinion.
As far as I’m concerned they’re getting shit done. People expecting governments to do everything that they require are quite frankly deluded.

Can’t happen, first thing Starmer did was stack the executive and change the rules to prevent this kind of thing ever happening.
Labour’s move to the right isn’t working and the recent immigration nonsense is a massive turn off. They can’t out do Reform on immigration so will only succeed in turning off their core voters. Polls show Labour voters are far more likely to vote Green or Lib Dems than Reform, yet they continue to chase votes from the right. They are completely useless. Switching to anti immigration hasn’t worked for any Labour leader.
He’ll have a job. All the left MPs were purged, selections were rigged to prevent left candidates from entering Parliament, and the leadership rules were changed to prevent a Corbyn-like candidate from ever being allowed to win again.
The fact that Starmer could have been well liked by making the changes he has, if he just didn’t go after the old and the disabled to save a few billion which is a drop in the ocean compared to our GDP, will always blow my mind. Pushing the most unpopular policies that weren’t risk assessed is just self harm, if he (which he semi is) back tracks on these two areas and then continues building workers rights, reforming the NHS and reducing immigration then reform will have no reason to exist.
Just for a tiny glimpse of context. John McDonnell had the whip withdrawn on 23 July 2024. He was a Labour MP for many years now, but at this time is sitting as an independent.
This may adjust views as to the extent of any Labour schism.
I’m not a Labour supporter, I’m a swing voter. I find the info useful to understand.
John McDonnel wanting to move away from being a government and back to being a cozy little debate club where everyone can make really brave statements like “inequality is bad!” and then feel good about themselves. Just pretend that the inconveniences of reality that make these problems hard to fix don’t exist. Fuck this useless cunt and people like him. So much fucking noise to achieve nothing but enable the Conservatives to fuck up the lives of people he pretends to speak for.
Imagine waking up on a day in 2029 and imagine the feeling in your stomach seeing Nigel Farage or Kemi Badenoch letting themselves into Number 10.
The likes of McDonnell really fucking love only being in opposition.

We did the Corbyn project and while his national plans would’ve been great with hindsight he would have been terrible with Covid and Ukraine.
I stood for Labour and, to a degree, I’m happy on those international issues that Corbyn didn’t get in.
We don’t need a rehash of that past.
Starmer is doing better than expected internationally, disappointing locally. Give him time.
