      I wouldn’t really call those beautiful, but they do look quite functional.

      We need government housing projects again but this time not just build them but actually maintain them instead of abandoning them..

      The neighborhood I grew up in was WWII workforce housing to feed the Keiser shipyards.

      I wonder how many of the working class people who benefited from this government leg-up then used the savings to ‘expand their portfolio’ into property and become massive landlords eating up all available real estate and bleeding newer generations dry

      The government built housing for vets. But redlining prevented many from purchasing.

      The problem with affordable housing, is that the upper middle class homeowners who purport to support more affordable housing, cannot afford to lose value on their home, which is precisely what building more inventory to lower housing costs would do.

      People don’t consider homes shelter, it’s an investment. And for the dumbest reasons, people expect this investment to be a sure thing.

      No matter what they might say, homeowners *do not want* more affordable housing for others.
