The royal family is no different from any of the other oligarchs hording the majority of wealth on this planet. Don’t let the warm feeling of some political gesture cloud your judgement. When King Charles and his ilk actually pay taxes at the rate of us peasants I will have some nicer things to say. Otherwise it is just a dog and pony show.
Whatever you think, it was a genius PR move by Carney. The world’s western media (aside from the USA) was transfixed by the moment. I saw it covered live on British and French channels.
