My dad’s best friend has one and we’ve taken it on many trips because it’s the *best* car to travel with. Safe, lots of space and very comfy seats 🙂 I love Volvos!

We had Volvo 244 when I was kiddo and I’ve always had soft spot for Volvo’s of that era. Beautiful cars.

Designed by Swedish engineers, assembled by Finnish labor in Göteborg.

      Okay, okay.. Swedish also.

When I was a kid we had this same, but white, 244 pulling camper through Sweden on the way to Central/Western Europe. Suddenly it broke down close to Volvo factory and the car was towed there to inspect the problem.
All sorts of engineers came out to figure out what was the problem, but they could not solve it. Finally they called Finnish mechanic who came out and eventually pulled the distributor cap out, pulled a cloth from his pocket and wiped that thing clean and said: „Vittu, tääl on vettä virranjakajan kannessa.“. Then he put the distributor cap back on and voilá, the thing started running. It was a memorable moment.

Have you guys ever noticed, than in many movies where there’s a family moving into a haunted house or a rural small town, the family drives an old station wagon Volvo?

Or if the movie has an upper class family in a city, they have some XC90 Volvo that the mom drives.
