In Australia the family court is different.
There is no fault divorce. Nothing will be mitigating or aggravating in the court papers, which stinks.
Separation of financial responsibility between husband and wife.
Twelve months later the divorce papers are served.
First is child custody, usually 70/30 ( mothers are normally 70%), they also get the house. My son walked away with his dogs and computer. This is sorted out by negotiation before the divorce papers are served.
Then financial settlement , generally the mother rubs their hand together thinking they will get a massive payout in form of the father’s superannuation, small thing is the superannuation MUST go to superannuation fund, which can not be access until the person 65 years old age. As soon as the mother works this out, she gets upset. She didn’t get the big payday she wanted.
This negotiation is not always in court, as court dates are often two to three years in advance.
Then divorce decree, the judge just signs, no court hearing.
Apparently there was lot of tooing and fooing over the residuals for his movie roles ( aka her superannuation payout).
