11 remain in hospital, all are stable.

Seems almost a miracle that no one died.

    2. Interesting to hear during the briefing that the street this happened on was fully closed to traffic, and that he most likely followed an ambulance in when the blockade was lifted for it. I hope the poor bastard having a suspected heart attack still got the attention and care he needed given that the ambulance crew suddenly a lot of different people to attend to. Also the fact that he might have been driving under the influence of something might explain just how nonsensical his actions seem. In summary, twat.

Hopefully there won’t be any casualties once it all clears up. For whatever reason there is no excuse for what has happened…

    4. A moment meant for joy and community turned tragic in an instant. Hoping for a full recovery for those injured, and strength for everyone affected. No one should have to fear for their safety at a public celebration.

Coked-up weapon should be put away for a long long time. This might be the kick up the backside our courts need to start taking driving offences seriously.

When people do life altering things like this on drugs I always wonder how bad the come down must be.

The drug offenses are the nail in the coffin for him. From what I saw he could possibly have got away with fearing for his life with his actions as the crowd seemed to turn on him before he started running people down and he could argue the road was opened when he entered that area and he had to drive for his own safety when the crowd started attacking his car but yeah no chance after this.

A piece of shit near to where i live got high on nitrous and crashed her car. She paralysed a woman who will likely never recover. This utter cunt got a whopping 18 months in jail for ruining an innocent woman’s life

Suspicion at this stage, though any news of charges will confirm it.

Police stated the car followed an ambulance that was responding through the barrier.

What kind of moronic driver do you have to be to do that?

As if it wasn’t news that the centre would be blocked off for almost a million fans descending on a parade for a reason, or the hordes of fans all walking up the street wouldn’t give it away that the roads fucking closed and you shouldn’t even try getting down there.

Massive relief that everyone seems to be recovering. No fatalities, and hopefully full recoveries ahead. Mental scars to deal with in time, but it’s the least worst outcome.

Hopefully, the club reaches out and does something special for them.

has nobody been able to work out his identity yet? would have thought it would be all over social media by now

Here’s hoping the book is thrown at him, and for once committing a crime with a car is taken seriously in this country

Is it too much to hope this police statement very clearly confirming that the 53 year old has been arrested as the driver may now stop the conspiracy/racist crowd from spreading their misinformation across social media?

Even though the police had already confirmed the 53 year old white man was believed to be the driver, I’ve seen a lot of people claiming the 53 year old was trying to get to the driver and that’s what he’d been arrested for, along with posting pictures of a man, as they say is „clearly not 53 and not white“. The picture is incredibly clear, it’s terrifying the thought that people could go after the wrong person.

I really do hope this statement stops them, but I can’t see it happening. They’ll leave their posts up and act like everything that the media says is a lie and this is somehow starmers fault. It’s like some big group delusion, so scary how little facts matter anymore

Man on drugs gets in car.

He sees an ambulance go through the blockade and follows it.

Beeps at pedestrians to get out his way and gets abuse.

Can’t get through and hits pedestrian at low speed to make them move. Another pedestrian then kicks the back of the car and others try to open the door.

He floors it and hits a shit tonne of people.

Thank god no one was killed.

    14. limeflavoured on

I’m somewhat skeptical that the eventual charges will actually include Attempted Murder, tbh. It’s very hard to prove intent, in comparison to the driving offences so unless they find some specific evidence then I can see that being dropped. What it does do is mean he is far less likely to be bailed in the meantime.

    15. duffelcoatsftw on

Thought this would be the case from the footage. Looked more like blind panic than intent to kill given the speed.

So, drink/drug driving, decides to follow a „safe“ vehicle, ends up in a crowd of people. Impaired driving causes him to clip some pedestrians, who are understandably pissed off and attack the vehicle. So the driver panics, floors it, and we end up with this.

What an absolute mess, says volumes about our indigenous culture that all this happens off the back of a moron going out on the lash.

    16. Drug offences? Had a bit of the snif did he. Probably explains the road rage

    17. amazingusername100 on

What an absolute dickhead he is. Not some silly youngster that can’t hold his drink, but a middle aged man on the gear gets in his car and causes serious injuries to people and their kids. Twat deserves what he gets.

    18. DoctorDarkstorm on

Probably a entitled reform supporter with his total disregard for the law

    19. ohnondinmypants on

Fingers crossed everyone seriously injured pulls through. I do reckon that he’ll end up convicted of causing serious injury through dangerous driving, maybe multiple GBH’s due his recklessness. There’s footage of him driving slowly though the crowd, some of the crowd start attacking his car, he then drives into people and swerves to drive into people. Unless there is something we don’t know and this was a planned attack, he’ll claim he panicked and never intended to kill anyone. They may charge him with a more serious offence but the dangerous driving is the one I think he’ll get done for. 10 – 12 year sentence, out in 4-6.

    20. After-Dentist-2480 on

Remember how everyone’s saying we shouldn’t speculate and we should let the police do their job?
And how being arrested for something isn’t the same as being convicted of something?

So, shall we let police and courts do their job of ensuring this man is prosecuted and convicted of the correct charges, and dealt with properly?
Assuming his guilt of everything under the sun before trial helps no one.
