I hate to be disagreeable, but from my vantage, the cuts to Medicaid have never been the quiet part. The cuts have been the oh my God so fricking deafening part that you’d have to be a special kind of shitbag to successfully tune them out.

This bill takes the USA workforces taxes thatthey pay to fund Medicaid and using it to pay for a tax break for the rich. It’s gross. Republicans are always jibber jabbing about getting rid of medicaid/Medicare or social security to give rich people money that every working person is paying a tax to fund.

In today’s Maga, the quiet part is he won’t cut Medicaid.

and this is only the beginning, Social Security and Medicare are next.

The real quiet part is this will be devastating for everyone who isn’t like, really rich, even people who never expect to use the program. Medicaid subsidizes hospital care for the poor and this benefits everyone. I want to shout this from the rooftops.

Roughly 40% of all births in the US are paid for by Medicaid. If Medicaid suddenly stopped paying for those, these mothers are still going to go to the hospital to deliver their baby. The difference will be the government isn’t paying their bill and realistically neither will they because they probably can’t afford it. The bill will go to collections. If hospitals have too many uninsured people who can’t pay their bills and aren’t worth suing, they’ll have to close because they’ll be losing money. Now no one has a hospital, including people with private health insurance.

Now some might be thinking, why don’t we just allow hospitals to refuse to treat the poor and uninsured in their ERs? First of all, shame on you. Second, this is a TERRIBLE idea. Picture this: you’re out and about and suddenly become incapacitated. Maybe you’re having a medical episode. Maybe you’re hit by a car. You’re taken to the hospital but uhoh your wallet didn’t make it there with you. With no id and no way to tell if you’re insured, the hospital has to decide whether they think you can afford treatment. What if they decide you can’t and let you die? Now let’s go back to the first scenario. Imagine this happens but your local hospital shut down a few years ago because it couldn’t afford to stay open due to too many uninsured people utilizing the er. Now an ambulance has to drive you a hour away to a bigger city. Both of these situations are bad. Let’s not cut Medicaid please?

The denials, distortion and disinformation by trumps administration on the Medicaid cuts should make the follow up on this interesting, guessing we won’t see Sacks in front of cameras for a bit.

They’ll just claim the only thing they’re cutting is waste and fraud. This isn’t some smoking gun.

The Senate will absolutely vote this through. They will make noises about being against it, and then every one of them will vote for it.

Ok, but it’s **MY** fucking money taken *specifically* for Medicare & Social Security, **NOT** to give those greedy, villainous fucks who already have too much, MORE.

It’s literal insanity to keep believing that math will ever math, when it’s NEVER mathed before.

There is no way for red and blue states to coexist. There is no overlap in beliefs anymore. Not saying anything should happen, tech overlords, but the incompatibility is unfixable. I’m so goddamn tired of subsidizing states that are holding us all back.
