Our country is huge and our population is small compared to many. This creates challenges. I just hope we don’t spend billions on outdated ideas. I firmly believe need to create a defense force knowing that we alone will never be able to stop Russia, China, or god forbid America from threatening/invading our territory. So given that, we need to focus on creating a force and environment that no reasonable invader would want to deal with.
For instance, become insurgency/counter insurgency specialists. It will keep our costs reasonable given our size and still be useful at home and abroad.

Fascinating article and spot on – given the Network for Strategic Analysis’ reputation, trusting this will be influential in government circles.

Canada is so big and sparsely populated, I really have no idea how we go about defending it.
Having a nuclear deterrent seems like the only thing which would give a serious foreign aggressor pause.
