Surely they should have to pay back all the money they stole …
Not a deterrent. They’re not even being asked to pay the full sum back.
They should have a permanent garnish on any wages they earn and/or a proportion of any benefits they’re entitled to should be garnished. *All* of their assets should be confiscated and sold, I don’t think they should have any material possessions other than the bare minimum.
It’s sentences like this that make me think forced labour should be reintroduced. No state assistance unless you go and work a job that benefits society (e.g., picking fruit, farmwork, recycling centre) and you’ve worked long enough to pay back the money you stole.
£400K for 22 months in jail, that’s works out around £450k / y PAYE.. seems the bigger the financial crime, the less jail time (see michelle mone)

Someone tell me the difference between what he did and actual registered charity’s paying CEOs hundreds of thousand pounds.
For folks who haven’t read it: the 500k figure is between a gang of 7. It seems 100,000 is this arsehole’s share.
I see so many football fans in pubs before games chucking pound coins into a bucket being held by shady looking characters with homemade looking charity ID tags. They must make a fortune
So they get to keep £400k? Why don’t they pay in full to the good causes.
