Oh yes! We shouldn’t be picking people for top positions in the Senate and House based off of how long they’ve been there. This whole „their turn“ thing is part of the reason we’re in this mess.

Seniority and Democracy are antonyms

Just can’t run a fossil for president anymore. If age looks like an issue in a race for a seat in Congress, that would be bad too. Otherwise, I think age is a bit of a red herring. It’s not something that by itself makes a candidate better or worse usually. AOC, Crockett, and others were in that super cringe Smash Bros meme a couple months ago or whatever, so it’s not like the younger crowd has a complete mastery over the messaging and stuff either.

Another clueless elitist pretending to have found a magic solution to the Dems‘ problems. As usual, the clueless elitist misses the point. She thinks it’s all about a way to „fix the Democratic Party’s brand“; „to change who runs as Democrats – more & better messengers.“ (Irony: resume includes „Hillary Clinton’s email director“.)

As long as Democrats ignore the root causes (no, not things like racism or misogyny or homophobia or „Christian“ fundamentalism; we’ve had all those for 250 years and it never led to Trump) they are merely engaging in performative and useless posturing.  There’s an old saying that just because you’re paranoid, it does not mean that no one is following you.  Just because someone is a racist or misogynist or homophobe or „Christian“ fundamentalist does not mean that they had no legitimate major issues that drove them toward a charlatan like Trump.  Unless the Democrats commit to the things that most Americans say they really want – not things like unisex bathrooms and custom-tailored pronouns – they will dig themselves deeper into the hole they have created. Either commit to fair tax structure, sensible gun control, universal health care, good public education, living minimum wage, support for unions, and other basic programs that most voters say they want, or continue the long, painful slide into total irrelevance.  It’s that simple. Plus the Gaza thing.

I have a wild idea for Democrats!!!

Pick leaders based on actual inspiring leadership ability, intelligence and especially charisma! Not how long they’ve been alive and a Democrat or how good they are at kissing corporate ass at fund raising events!

Do that and suddenly Democrat isn’t synonymous with Chuck Schumer’s craven cowardice.

Democrats downfall is not being mean enough

This country needs an elected official age cap of the average life expectancy of your constituency. Running for senate and your state has a life expectancy of 70 – you’re done at 70. The country is sitting at 79 so no presidency after 79.
