In derselben Schaufel konnten wir fast alles zu einem Bruchteil der Kosten produzieren … und angenommen, wir hatten Roboter … menschliche Arbeit wäre veraltet.
Angesichts der Annahme, dass jeder mit Fusion Power an Bord hüpft und wir uns nicht umbringen … wie wird die Welt in Say … 2045 aussehen?

Fusion will, at best, be just one more source of clean energy generation. That’s it. It will not be a magical font of clean power that will reduce electricity to 1c an hour. Even if that *could* happen, the electric companies would never allow it.
We will still probably go extinct because of biosphere collapse. Climate crisis is the poster child for the biosphere’s woes, but we’ve breached 7 of 9 planetary boundaries of which climate is just 1. Novel entity contamination alone could sterilize the world, and we don’t have any good answers on how to address it, with or without fusion.
We could be doing all of those things right now. Our problem isn’t one of capability, but one of will.
Is it profitable? if the answer is no then I wouldn’t count on any changes. even if it is profitable if the startup costs are too great I wouldn’t count on any changes. we live in a world driven by money, not progress.
Fusion has always been „just a few years away“ and I’m talking about hearing this from childhood 40+ years ago.
2030ish. At this point it’s an engineering issue, not a science one. All the fundamentals have been worked out so now it’s figuring out how build something that can survive the fast neutrons and direct plasma impingement. We’re on the doorstep.
