> Scores of staffers at the White House National Security Council were abruptly dismissed Friday, as the Trump administration moved to dramatically downsize the coordinating body, according to people familiar with the matter.
>The staff sent home included both career officials who were detailed to the NSC and some political appointees, these people said.
Timed for Friday night before a long weekend to avoid scrutiny.

We’ve seen this play before. Mass dismissals at the NSC are a clear sign of an administration prioritizing unwavering loyalty above all else. This isn’t just inefficient, it actively undermines our national security by sidelining experts for political convenience. This pattern is deeply concerning for anyone who cares about a stable and well informed foreign policy.

One conspiracy theory: open the doors for some national security failure so trump can issue a national emergency declaration and cancel elections (which Republicans are going to lose in 2026).

Will make him less able to execute his madness. Gutting his own infrastructure is more than just eliminating people who disagree with you- it’s expertise, connections and experience. It’s hands to do the actual work. You don’t just make a declaration and sign it and it appears out of thin air. This is him, once again, shooting himself in his own foot. Sadly it has repercussions for us all.
