I find it super deplorable that *any* of our politicians, regardless of party, are vying for Israel’s favour. Even before their latest onslaught on Gaza, this is not a peaceful, friendly nation. Time to cut the cord.

CBC telling it like it is. Trudeau’s cozying up to the Netenyahu regime is one thing that will permanently haunt his legacy. I’m so glad to finally have a government standing up to that corrupt tyrant.

    3. Best friend? Odd choice of framing.

I can’t think of any era where Canada considered Israel a best friend (and vice versa).

An ally and friend in the region? Sure. But Canada has never had the dynamic that Israel has had with the United States. And that went both ways.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone from the Israeli government consider Canada a “best friend” either. Friendly of course, and Israel being an allied democracy to NATO in a sea (and hotbed) of theocratic monarchical states and totalitarian dictatorships meant there was (and likely always will be) strong ties.

But best friend seems a little much. (Especially considering Israel / USA’s relationship).
