      I was talking to a Russian expat earlier today. And one thing he said that I found interesting.

      „If you meet a Russian living in the West, there is a 99% chance they are against what is happening in Russia and are pro-democracy. But in Cyprus, don’t be surprised if you meet more than a few friends of Putin.“ Alluding to the fact that some (not all) of the Russians living in Cyprus are not so progressive. Some very well enjoy the idea that this island is just something for them to exploit.

      I think it’s important to keep this in mind as Cyprus‘ borders remain open. It’s wonderful to have newcomers that want to join the community, but we should also make sure unsavory ideologies are not easily facilitated.
