We are so cooked. Wish the NDP still existed so they could try and stop them from putting this garbage into our healthcare system like British Labour is chomping at the bit to do, but I’m not sure the NDP even has an AI policy or the slightest notion of what is coming.

Pay wall. Not paying an American media company to read about Canadian politics.

Without reading, there is a way to integrate AI in a useful way and there’s a way to integrate it to cover up for decades of poor oversite and neglect thats rotting our systems.

I’m sure it’s leaning in to the second option. The fact that governments don’t have official ministries to over see and legislate the implementation of an emerging and possibly dangerous technology is next level ignorant.

I fear we will forever be at the mercy of these things if we fail to make understanding them a part of modern government. Laws and oversite can’t sit by and let corporations take full control of these emerging technologies.

      Well, the feds do now.

Evan Solomon is Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation, which means there is probably a new ministry to go along with it.

Here’s a thought: tax corporations and rich people the way we used to from the 50s to the 80s. Solved your budget problem. You’re welcome.

People here clearly dont know what AI actually is.
It can massively help the healthcare system.

Stop living in the Stone Age.
You can do genome sequences to see which cancers or health conditions you are more susceptible to, It can track your medical history and any diseases that are currently spreading.

Not to mention preventative care with proper testing.

Also, a comprehensive AI will be much better at diagnosing what’s wrong with you .

Imagine with an app you can track pains your body experiences instead of blowing it off until it’s too late.
No more going to the DR and forgetting about other issues you have had.

Maybe not waste billions on a useless tax cut?

Also, maybe don’t reverse a tax increase for the investor class that brings them closer to parity with workers? Maybe actually implement full parity between worker and investor income when it comes to taxes.

Digitization and efficiencies are must too (there is definitely ALOT of waste in government especially after a decade of bloat under Trudeau) but Carney can’t be worried about the deficit when he is throwing away money left and right in tax cuts.

    7. I’d say it’s a huge mistake if an American AI company is going to be processing our government data in American datacenters.

Carney was brought in as a fixer. Delaying a budget during a crisis—especially after a poor previous budget—is a risky move that could erode public trust fast.
