**From Michael A. Cohen, columnist for MSNBC and a senior fellow and co-director of the Afghanistan Assumptions Project at the Center for Strategic Studies at the Fletcher School, Tufts University:**
Early Wednesday, when most Americans were snuggled in their beds, Republicans in the House of Representatives were working hard to take away the health care of millions of Americans, blow a $3 trillion hole in the budget deficit and make the wealthiest people in America richer and the poorest Americans poorer.
If this sounds like hyperbole, it’s not. The GOP-controlled House Rules Committee convened at 1 a.m. Wednesday morning to discuss a bill that hasn’t been fully drafted and the provisions of which were still part of intense negotiations. Indeed, the real work on the legislation was happening behind closed doors as House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., tried to cobble together enough votes to pass something, anything, so he could meet his self-imposed deadline for a floor vote by Memorial Day. Late Wednesday, GOP leaders released yet more significant changes to the bill, and on Thursday morning the full House passed the bill by a single vote.
What we do know about the legislation the GOP is calling the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” is genuinely terrifying.
Republicans could shout from every rooftop what’s in this monstrosity and (not hyperbole) the vast majority of Americans (free-willed adults) will plug their ears, shout “LALALALALA”, and whine that they’re having to hear about PoLiTiCs in the first place.
Don’t believe me on vast majority? 31% voted MAGA and 38% didn’t vote at all. 69%. Vast majority. Free-willed adults. Many of them suburbanites who are well-educated and simply cannot be bothered.

May be a surprise but they even have a provision to remove the $200 NFA Tax Stamp on suppressor’s which is pretty sweet.
Edit: correction, it would appear the actual verbiage is intended to remove suppressors from NFA regulation entirely. If true then I change my assessment to this is really fucking sweet.

I hope America sees what the GOP is doing to them here. The GOP is going to blame it on minority gangs and satanic progressives, though.

2/3 of the country voted for this or didnt care enough to vote
this type of bill moving through our government in the dead of night is a loud and clarion warning that america is on life support
It’s no wonder, then, that Republicans were rushing this bill through while most Americans slept. If you were robbing the poor on behalf of the rich, you, too, would do it in the dead of night.
I’m waiting to hear from all the MAGA voters who voted for Trump three times now because they were supposedly experiencing „economic anxiety.“

Wonder how many Trump voters are on Medicaid. Since 7 out of the 10 states with the highest Medicaid enrollment all went to Trump, I’m going to guess quite a few.

Well at least there’s now tons of coverage as to what is in the bill. Hopefully this will motivate people to reach out to their senators and tell them how disturbing the bill is, not to mention the political suicide committed by those who pass it

Something has changed alarmingly. Previously neither party would risk reelection and individual members would know brazen disregard of the constitution would see them lose their seat.
Not any more though, Republicans with vote rigging, gerrymandering and suppression measures somehow know they are free to do what the hell they want.
Page 346 is the chip Medicare gender transition ban, if you’d like to read that. ACA change removing gender care is worded same enough I didn’t register changes.
Just below, page 352, has what appears to be the defunding of any abortion care facility, so a lot of places that grant reproductive care….basically bans reproductive care unless the care refuses abortion entirely….or hopefully I’m reading it wrong….

How badly it screws Americans, those of us left.
Guarantee all of their actions now are to ensure they can cancel/ stop future elections.
They know what they are doing is against the populace and if there is another election, they know they are fuvked.
The only action after that is 07141789.

They are really good at this, and democrats need to be voted out and replaced with new blood that can counter this bullshit.
