Author acknowledges a rerun election would produce comically different results then in April and thinks this will somehow restore confidence in elections?

Frankly, I’m happier the fewer party leaders get involved in this. Blanchett has skin in the game, as it appears that he’d have gotten another MP out of it, and that gives his candidate standing to contest. Carney also has skin in the game, but it wouldn’t be appropriate for the PM to get involved in what needs to be a non=partisan decision.
