Actually the people who voted for the GOP members of Congress who voted for the bill are to blame. It’s not that complicated.

Seriously, Republicans had a majority *anyway*. All that would have changed was the back room dealmaking to get the last couple of votes. If there was any serious opposition to the bill the vote would not have even been close, as ten solid R defections would have made it permanently DOA.
People love to find any and every way they can to put the blame on Democrats for the actions of Republicans.
Dems need to get younger, I completely agree. However, if the Dems had 3 additional votes the bill would still have passed.
2 Rs missed vote because they were sleeping & 1 R voted present. Those 3 would have secured the R vote.
Those folks shouldn’t have ran last year when they knew they had cancer.
However, the bill passed thank to unilateral support from fucking Republicans. Republicans killed Medicaid. Blaming dems when they are unified against it and Republicans unilaterally passed it is completely bullshit.
Johnson had a handful more votes he could have scrounged up if needed. Dems’ empty seats didn’t affect this bill.

I am very critical of the Dem Old Guard holding onto power, but that’s not the reason this passed. It passed because the GOP are greedy, selfish, and cruel. They had the majority anyway, this one is not on Democrats, including the dead ones.
