This has always been my biggest fear about living in a tower block.
I saw a post from a resident about this yesterday. I am glad that it is receiving media attention now. Hopefully, the issue will be fixed immediately now, and those who have had to suffer will receive some kind of compensation.
I used to live on the 13th floor of a block of flats. When the lift didn’t work, which was often, I’d use the stairs.
How is it possible they don’t have a stair case or emergency exit?

I thought you’re not meant to use a lift in the event of a fire? What do you do if you live at the top and have mobility issues??
Someone probably needs to update [their Wikipedia page](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poplar_HARCA) too, considering how much it appears that they like to fill it with puffery and awards they’ve won.
That’s the block that is used in lots of films too.
The plural of lift is being used so I guess there is more than one. It is often the case that one lift going out puts too much strain on a fragile second lift. As ever with these stories few facts are given.
The leaseholders had better prepare for a bill to replace them in their entirety if they are worn out.
