I watched the first 2 episodes. I found it insanely boring.

FYI: It’s classified as a Dark Comedy for those who are inclined to downvote

I really liked the first 2 episodes, speaking as someone unfamiliar with the books. Far too early for me to agree with this NPR review yet, but assuming they saw all 10 episodes, then the fact that they think so is heartening for what’s to come. Also, just generally a big fan of the Skarsgård family and Alex in particular (ever since True Blood & Generation Kill).

I was ready to check this out, but the trailers were mega cringe

I started watching it last night. I had to turn it off before 10 minutes because I was afraid my laughing would wake up my wife. I’ll try again tonight so we can watch it together.

And yet, not as funny as the book, so far anyway.
I’m enjoying it, but the tone feels a lot different. Murderbot was always pretty funny, but the characters he was with and the situations he was in were always pretty serious. The characters don’t feel as serious to me as they were in the book.

I feel like they are playing up the comedy but I’m ok with that. Overall, if you think about it , preservation are a bunch of hippy dippy weirdos so them leaning into that doesn’t bother me. Plus I hear some people say Alex isn’t good enough or not enough like the books. Hard disagree. I think , yes he’s adding his own flavor but it very much feels like Murderbot from the books.

Apple TV is making the best content right now and it’s not even close

It’s pretty good. I don’t know if I could call it the best new comedy of 2025 yet, but as of the first two episodes it’s up there. Alex Skarsgaard is a treasure though lol.

Very much enjoyed the first two episodes although they were fairly short and had to do a lot of heavy lifting in the plot development department.

The cast is wonderful and mostly stays true to the books. Murderbot is just how I imagined it to be. One thing I don’t like is the omission of the rest of the crew and putting Pin-Lee in a relationship with Arada. It’s understandable given the omission of characters

The tone is all wrong compared to the books. It’s ok if you just pretend they are unrelated I guess

I don’t get this reviewer’s mention of the “walled garden”
As far as I know Apple TV is available on most smart TVs through their App Store, also available on Android
What’s the problem? Sounds like a weird stigma issue

The first 20 minutes was an almost nonstop monologue. Dreadfully lazy writing and dull to watch.

That’s funny, because murderbot is not.

Just waiting for more episodes. I just got Apple TV recently….im on my like 4th rewatch of Ted lasso? Started Shrinking. Saving Severance for the summer for the alliteration. I’ve read Apple is losing a billion a year on Apple TV. I can believe it. The production values for their tv series is insane. I can imagine the cast payroll is huge too (looking at you The Studio)
