This is an extremely complicated proposal. What assets will be available to seize if a company moves all of their assets out of Canada?
A much simpler solution to this is to incentivize production inside Canada. Allow car companies to import one car from the US tariff-free for every car that they manufacture in Canada.
Nope! the answer to stupid protectionism abroad is not more stupid protectionism at home. Canada should focus on making Canada an attractive investment choice and attracting higher productivity jobs.
