Dang this made me realize in all of the space art I’ve made I haven’t depicted a supernova

    2. Assuming that it isn’t due to image processing or similar, doesn’t look too perfectly symmetrical. Just by eye it looks wider than it is tall. And on my display, it appears to be ~64mm x 60mm.

Honestly, I would have guessed that most supernova are pretty symmetrical, but if this is „weirding“ out researchers and/or astronomers, then I’m guessing typical is much less „regular“? How far out of spherical is typical for a supernova?

Tbh at first I thought the image was a drop of water on a leaf (or similarly green hydrophobic surface). Took a bit to realize what the picture’s actually showing, and I still can’t unsee the water drop. So weird.

This looks an awful lot like the supernova that took out Romulus. JUST SAYIN.
