Imagine actually voting against a bill that strikes down such a silly law.
Texas has been crippled by extreme MAGA policies.
Frankly, its getting old and people are getting tired of it.
I know I am.
Upcoming elections:
November 4, 2025
March 3, 2026
Mark your calendars TEXAS!
Its more than likely that republicans are concerned they might be held to that law….
What…?
What are the Texans planning now? Some form of new Tuskegee/syphilis experiments like Alabama did on the Black population from 1930 to 1970, but on sexuality this time. Or something like that…?
This is not normal; call me a tin foil hat all you want… But I wouldn’t trust them. They lifted this for a reason, and it’s NOT because it was the right thing to do.
>Fifty years later, there was little debate as lawmakers voted 72-55 to strike 21.06, [long unenforceable, from Texas law](https://www.chron.com/culture/article/gay-sex-ban-law-texas-20267143.php). The bill, HB 1738, now goes to the much more conservative Texas Senate, where it faces a steep climb to become law before the legislative session ends on June 2.
55 lawmakers still voted against this, smdh. This should be slam dunk but here we are.
Makes sense. I feel like Reddit is pretty out of the loop with how Conservatives actually feel about gay issues. Most Conservatives are fine with letting gay people do their own thing, having relationships, etc…it makes sense that they would repeal that ban because it accomplished nothing. I think its fine to separate gay rights issues with gender issues, they’re kind of different topics and I think its kind of unfair that they get lumped together.
Wait, was gay sex illegal in Texas?
„I don’t hate LGBT people… see, I have gay friends.“ -Texas (while drowning the T in the bathtub)
I’m guessing CPAC will be held in a Texas town next year?
As a Texan, I am quite surprised (happy surprise) since the entire Texas legislature operates on grift and corruption. I didn’t know a majority of them actually had a heart.
“State sex ed materials will still have to tell students that the state of Texas does not recommend homosexuality.“
That is such a strange statement for so many reasons.
Texas…tell us about that time you tried it.
Yeah, finally we got something Texans can be proud about.
I grew up in central Texas, went to school and took sex ed here. Same as my oldest is now. Neither of us, and I’m relying more on her as she just finished another year of sex ed, have ever heard that the state of Texas does not recommend homosexuality in sex ed.
I’d venture to guess maybe in more conservative school districts?
Any Texans hear this in sex ed?
$100 says this is political cover for them to go after trans people even harder. They’ll say „see we like gay people, we even got rid of that stupid law banning gay sex!“.
Then after they’ve completed their goal of eradicating trans people, they’ll turn around and come for all the pick mes and the ones who looked the other way because they thought if they sacrificed us they’d be safe.
How much do you guys wanna bet that the Republicans are repealing it so they can draft a new bill to circumvent the SCOTUS ruling currently invalidating this law? I don’t trust that this is sincere for a second.
I did read that right. Good job Texas?
Trump’s presidency has given the green light to bigots and cruelty.
Rare Texas W
Cause there are videos somewhere of Texas politicians having gay sex. No other reason.
Is the lunacy finally so much that Texas is turning purple???
They must be trying to get the hosting gig for the next RNC
