Derzeit auf einem Roadtrip in Deutschland und in einem alten schrulligen Airbnb in Klink am Muritz Lake vorbeigekommen. Es gibt diese Räder und Gurte am Fenster und ich kann nicht für mein Leben herausfinden, wofür sie sie sind. Ich dachte zuerst, sie wären dafür, die Vorhänge zu schließen, aber sie scheinen nicht auch zu sein.

It’s to let down the blinds outside the window
Its the „Rolladen“ or Roller shutters. You should slightly pull to release the roller and slowly let it down to make the room completely dark

U have to pull the strap a little in your direction and let it slide slowly upwards. Then the sun cover will lower outside the window
Edit: A very common mechanism in germany. U get quickly used to it, though as a kid I burnt my fingers a few times until I got it 😀

Don’t pull it down, pull it towards you, that will let the rope loose from the spiral thing at the bottom and the Rolladen will lower itself outside.
Rolladens are so damn nice. You’ll wish you had them at home, too.
That’s how window blinds were opened/closed before the invention of electric blinds. Or how they are still operated if the owner was too cheap to upgrade. 🙂
