Awful. My old man is a retired fireman, it becomes normalised but it can be a seriously dangerous job. He lost someone on his watch in his first few weeks on the job when a water tank fell through the ceiling in a house fire and crushed him.

      RIP guys.

    3. This is just sad.
I had to look it up as I’ll be honest I thought it was a rare occurrence however there have been 122 death of firefighters in the UK since 1978. That’s so many more than I thought.
An exceptionally dangerous job where they certainly do not get the recognition they deserve.
As a police officer, it hits hard when a colleague is killed or seriously injured on duty.
Thinking of their colleagues during this awful time.

A tragic loss of life and just to warn people trying to find more information on this fire, don’t go to the DM to read about this fire as what their comment section is posting right now is disgusting

    5. I have been to Bicester Heritage, it’s a lovely place, great people working there. It’s so sad that it became a place of such tragedy. Rest in peace

Horrifying. This should not happen in 2025. Death isn’t inevitable in a lot of these situations. It’s often the result of not wanting to put money and resources where it will protect lives because it’s seen as „wasteful.“

    7. Terrible news to hear of the loss of all lives. A reminder of how dangerous the job as a Firefighter is.
