„They need to defraud you to make enough to survive“

How is anyone okay with this? It’s literally sanctioned fraud. Taking money out of your 401k for themselves because they have insider information.

    2. Out_For_Eh_Rip on

Hmmmm…. I guess all fed employees need stock trading to support their families.

Difference is most fed employees don’t have access to insider information like congress does.

      Crooks!

    3. Ok. Setting the stage for increased salary for congress which will be paid for by cutting Medicare

    4. US Congress people are still in the top 5% of income earners.

And, there are like a dozen of them who are worth over $100 million which is in the top 0.2% of the US population.

The richest congress person also defrauded the United States of hundreds of millions.

Excuse me what the fuck ?? Nobody is forcing you to be a public servant you fucking self-serving selfish prick

$174K is a lot, if you’re serving constituents with median household incomes only half that, as many of them are. However, if you’re serving only the very rich, it’s not enough at all.

    7. As a family dependent upon a federal research scientist’s salary I offer this sex fiend asshole a hearty fuck you.

    8. That’s comforting to the millions of Americans “frozen” at or near federal minimum wage of $7.25/hour.

    9. KlaatuBarada1952 on

Their salaries is $174,000 per year with some making more. Probably get a big expense budget on top of that. If that isn’t enough set term limits and go home.

    10. Funky-Buddah on

Congress members make $174,000 a year. And Mike Johnson says they can’t support a family on that?

      Fuck you Mike.

    11. nyyanksfan81 on

Mike Johnsons stock portfolio includes that app that helps him track his sons porn habits and vice versa

      Edited for spelling

I’m flabbergasted by the way he just put a defense out there by pointing out that congressional salaries haven’t been raised since 2009. Wow, no increase in pay in all that time. It makes it hard to take this job. lol. You know what also hasn’t changed since 2009? The minimum wage. These clowns are so dense.

    13. HandsLikePaper on

      – Congressional members need insider trading because $174,000 a year isn’t enough.
      – Trump needs a $400 million dollar plane from a foreign government because the current plane is old.
      – YOU do not need Medicare or Social Security because you should work.
      – YOU do not need affordable housing because you should work harder.
      – YOUR kids do not need multiple toys.

Anyone else sensing a pattern here?

    14. SuperLuigiUnited on

So only Congress should be able to support their families. Fuck the rest of us, right?

    15. citymousecountyhouse on

How long has Congress kept the minimum wage frozen at the same hourly rate? A decade? Longer? These people have no shame.

    16. Green_Tomato_7444 on

Insider trading is illegal regardless of what position you have. This guy is over here saying Congress needs to be able to break the law so they can support their families because wages have been stagnant. Does he even hear himself speak? They make 174k a year with full benefits and healthcare.

So what does that say about the rest of the American population if 174k a year with paid medical can’t support a family without breaking the law?

    17. BeeBobber546 on

That is such a spit in the face to so many Americans. He whines that people making 174k need to do insider trading because their salaries haven’t changed since 2009, yet the Federal minimum wage has been at $7.50 since 2005!!! When will Trump supports realize Republicans are for the rich, not them!???

    18. What about our families? Why can’t we get in on the insider trading?

My kids are hungry as well Mike.

    19. anythingfordopamine on

Why don’t we just build some subsidized housing for congress and have a per diem budget for their travel and meals. Boom, problem solved. Nothing left for them to bitch about

    20. captain_intenso on

I think what he’s saying is they need term limits, so they can go out and get real jobs.

    21. The minimum wage hasn’t increased since 2009 either federally. Still monumentally easier to live on $174k/yr than <$20k/yr.

    22. Slow_Supermarket5590 on

Boy I wish  my salary was frozen at 3 times what it is. The corruption  of MAGA 🗑  is mind boggling.

    23. If he thinks Congress struggles to support their families, wait until he hears what the minimum wage is.

    24. Congress gets paid 174k a year with lifetime free healthcare.  Closet Mike here gets 235k.   The average individual income in United States is 42k

    25. How about they take the average American salary instead and try and make it work let the fucking rest of us

Absolute joke. He’s either severely out of touch or a fucking liar, but I have no patience for him either way

    26. These people are as weak as their excuses. Separate political positions from money. Government officials should not be in it for profit.

    27. Making millions for doing literally nothing is what this motherfucker considers a „sacrifice“.

Fuck off forever with that shit.

    28. threehundredthousand on

Special kind of shamelessness to say $174,000 isn’t enough to live so you need to insider trade while voting down any change in minimum wage and claiming poor people in America have it too good.

    29. Mysterious_Reply_490 on

So he thinks $175,000/year is not enough to support a family on? I have some shocking news for him regarding minimum wage.

    30. Present-Perception77 on

But $7.25 an hour is good enough for the people in his state?
That man is pond scum in an expensive suit.

    31. The fact that he tried to scare everyone by saying there would be ‚less qualified‘ people in office, as if we can go lower than what we have now 😂 Jesus dude, we have a guy with an actual brain worm running our Health services, and the guy running our military is an alcoholic who was previously getting paid to look pretty on camera and give opinions. I’ve had cats more qualified than what we have now.

    32. greentreesbreezy on

Without corruption how on Earth do you expect us to live on only $174K/year???
