Just like his Free votes on abortion. Can the Conservatives ever actually own a single one of their horrible policies just once? They’re always running away from their true intent while blowing the dog whistle.
And Pollievre (along with a long line of other self interested politicians) must bear some of the responsibility for worsening the situation with inflammatory and divisive rhetoric.
If for some reason Alberta actually separates, which riding will he run in then? Which poor person will “give up their seat” to Poilievre can run?
He basically repeated Danielle Smith’s words during his answer to this question, and tried to be purposefully vague. If one refuses to condemn separatism and continues to stoke the fires of it, I don’t think you can say you’re truly against it. It’s a difficult situation for him since the riding he’s running in is a hotbed of separatism, but the ROC won’t appreciate Poilievre playing footsie with these guys. This is an issue that will continue to plague Poilievre I think.
The man of reflection and change , spent the last few weeks trying to figure out how to say the election was stolen , with out saying the election was stolen .
I’d place myself as center , all day but most would probably pin me as center right .
The CPC is absolutely cooked and I can not for the life of me find my way to any indication that they are not if Carney dosnt majorly fock up .

Everyone’s screaming confidence but when I see the party leader running to Alberta because the party does not trust that a safe seat in Ontario will exist in a few months I think , man their in trouble .
Against separation, but also saying he totally understands the feeling and, also, they aren’t wrong about it.
I guess the best thing about being the opposition is that all you have to do is oppose things without coming up with any solutions.
If the comment section here is any indication, it’s really not hard to imagine why Alberta feels alienated.
Like guys, sentiment along these lines has existed for decades. „Let the eastern bastards freeze in the dark“ was from the 70s.
I’ll give you that most of it is hot air and not based in fact. But dismissing western alienation out of hand is a really dumb idea.
You cannot be a federal leader with the hopes of eventually being Prime Minister without being decidedly against separatism. This isn’t a situation where you can fence-sit. Is he still going to remain the Conservative candidate for next Prime Minister of Canada or does he want to talk like he wants to be Prime Minister of Alberta?
No, Albertans do not have that right because it’s most of their voters‘ bases faults. They vote in polarizing people who can’t negotiate and have burned every bridge. It’s the UPC’s fault for where they are.
This guy is frustrating. He lost the election to be PM and he lost his seat. He then tries to joke/insult that Sean Fraser somehow fails upwards all the time. Ironically missing the fact that Pierre failed so badly a conservative MP needs to step down.
If sean fraser fails upwards then Pierre fails just fails.
What does pollievre know or even give a shit about Alberta. Once he’s swept into that byelection he’ll never live there. Battle river Crows nest will never have that riding mentioned in parliament regarding anything of substance. I bet he couldn’t even find it on a riding map until he was shown
The whole tired separatism schtick was meant to distract the media from continuing to talk about the healthcare scandals the UCP have caused.
Oh hey, there goes Pierre being wishy-washy once more on an issue of Canadian sovereignty. Exactly why does anyone see him as remotely trustworthy again?
Alberta will always be frustrated if they don’t „have it their way“.
The biggest union in Alberta is not happy about their own government so imagine.
The problem here is that people have been indoctrinated into thinking that their society is „giving more“ than it „receives“ while in fact, the federal keeps putting money in the fossil fuel industry (30 billions in 2024) and yet, that mature industry has doing things right because it ALWAYS tries to cut corners. It complains about environmental legislations which are actually more lax than they are in Europe and even in some US states. If some projects does not even make financial sense, it’s not because of „the federal“ or of „Trudeau“ (yep, some people still talk about him!).
