Republicans are eating the country and the DNC’s response is to eat their own. Typical.
The DNC is just the „Status Quo“ Party. They like everything exactly the way things are, wealth inequality, expensive-as-hell healthcare, and sky-high rent included. That’s the shit people hate, not left/progressive policies that actually help people. But it’s all up to what the donors want.
The democrats as a party make way more sense when you acknowledge the upper echelon doesn’t actually give a fuck about making peoples lives better.
Texas’s 18th Congressional district had their 74-year-old Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee pass in July 2024. Dismissing younger candidates, 70-year-old Sylvester Turner ended up the winning the election for the 2025 full term and passed two months later. In a tight House where every vote is critical, this seat will remain vacant until November.
But we don’t need more youth movement in the DNC.
The Republicans are basically handing the 2026 midterms to the Democrats due to the incompetence of the Trump administration but the Democrats can’t help themselves from looking like morons.
How fucking ironic is it that the DEMOCRATIC Party is subverting their own democratic election?

I may not understand this correctly, but this is how I read it:
– 3 people were elected. 1 of them with a clear majority, 2 of them on a combined ballot. The 2 were David Hogg and Malcom Kenyatta.
– The rules don’t actually allow for a combined ballot.
– One of the person who lost the vote asked the DNC to respect the current results, but to fix this issue in the future.
– The committee voted on this but couldn’t get a majority. They voted again and recommended to do a new election for those seats. The full membership of the DNC will now vote to see if they agree with that recommendation or not.
– It was recommended for David Hogg and Malcom Kenyatta to run again and win those seats back.
– David Hogg claims this is an attempt to get him removed. He believes this is retaliation for his attempts to make the DNC younger and trying to primary other members.
– Malcom Kenyatta says the situation is frustrating, but doesn’t believe it’s retaliation. He points out the complaint was done before Hogg announced his plans with the primaries. He also accuses David Hogg of making every story about himself.
If I understand this correctly (I might not), I agree it would have been simpler to keep the current results and simply fix this problem for future elections. But simpler isn’t always better; I guess the issue with doing this is whether the results of the previous elections would have been different had a combined ballot not been allowed.
If the results WOULD have been different, then it seems unfair to candidates and voters to keep the current results. You either do a vote where combined ballots are allowed for everyone, or a vote where no one can do it. You don’t do a vote where you announce they aren’t allowed, yet allow it afterward.
If the results would NOT have been different, then it does seem like retaliation to try and hold a new vote. If you don’t believe the impact was big enough to sway the final result, holding a new vote now just seems like a desperate attempt to get a different (and more favorable to the committee/DNC) outcome.
I don’t know enough about this to know whether they should hold a new election. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were hoping to get rid of David Hogg. They’re clearly at odds, and I could see them using this complaint to throw spaghetti at the wall. With that said, I could also see a new election being more fair and more representative of the will of the voters. I don’t have insight of the true intent of the committee.

Kenyatta is great, and the Dems need to move hard for young and more progressive candidates. THAT BEING SAID, David Hogg is bad at picking candidates to back, and he’s using his position to enrich himself.
He’s grifting.
This is a procedural thing. Obviously looks bad with the timing, but the complaint that led to it was from before he started talking primaries and I’m not willing to completely rule out Dems just being *that* bad at considering the optics of this sort of thing.
Hopefully he wins the redo election anyway.
This should show everyone the thinking of these corporate dems. They would rather have orange fuckface Trump as president than ever give any power to the progressive voters or young dems.

When Citizens United was passed politics became nothing but theatre. The businesses and lobbyists and career politicians have turned every part of the visible government into a hellscape where any progress that does not directly line the pockets of their investors then it is doomed to fail. And the same people own both the left and the right; or at least enough of both to keep anyone else from playing the game. We are in real time watching the seizing of the reigns from the old money by the new wealth tech elite. And if we wait for them to work on our behalf we will wait forever, but if we act then the fascist can finally bring the boots down.
Funnily enough the people are back at square one. There can be no taxation without representation.
Democratic party is an absolute joke. At this point I hate them just as much as the other party. Can we PLEASE get a Bernie/AOC independent party
