When drug companies scream „socialism, I hate it!“ you know it’s the right thing to do. They’ve been screaming „socialism“ at any attempt to reign in their abusive pricing for decades, while massive profits roll in.
I applaud Bernie for attempting to codify it into law.
OK, as a socialist, I approve of what Trump is proposing. But this is deeper than some economic policy. MAGA has declared war on research, science, and big pharma. This isn’t about the consumer as we’ll pay through tariffs. It’s about creating leverage over corporations so they’ll do the bidding of the regime. Fascism often has corporations who are favored, but only if they capitulate to demands. So ask yourself what Trump will demand – mifepristone, trans healthcare, vaccines and the MAHA agenda, etc.?!
Mussolini made the trains run on time. Great! Well, if you realize if was about moving troops and prisoners in an orderly and efficient manner, not so much. Trump isn’t trying to help people. This is about controlling people, corporations and medications. It’d be a brilliant move by Sanders to put Trump and Congress on the record here, as it’s not what they meant. But it is what they said.
I would love for Trump to be doing a good thing. But then Santa clause would have to be real.

It seems pretty obvious what’s going on. Trump threatens pharma companies; pharma companies suddenly want to buy a billion dollars in $TRUMP coin; Trump backs off.

I’m not sure what authority Trump thinks he has to set drug prices via executive order, but I guess evidence so far shows he has pretty much limitless power to do whatever he wants.
Why doesn’t someone suggest to him he sets the price of eggs via a similar executive order?

Trmup should absolutely support sanders in this. While at it. Get rid of medical insurance and middle men hiking the prices and not disclosing prices.
People are missing the point of what Trump and RFK said. They aren’t saying that Trump will cap the cost of pharmaceuticals. Trump is saying that people in other countries need to be charged more for our pharmaceuticals. And that will somehow lead to Americans being charged less.
