Though the exact value of the specific jet in question — which is 13 years old, [according to ABC News](https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/trump-administration-poised-accept-palace-sky-gift-trump/story?id=121680511) — isn’t clear, a new 747-8 jumbo jet fetches a whopping $400 million.
The gift has been panned by frequent Trump critics like Democratic Senate Minority Leader [Chuck Schumer](https://www.businessinsider.com/chuck-schumer-career-house-to-senate-majority-leader-new-york-2022-12) of New York and Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, but in a notable break, some of Trump’s most ardent MAGA loyalists have also criticized the potential plane deal.

Nearly everyone in my life is MAGA, family, neighbors, coworkers. Not one of them is upset by the plane, the think it’s great. A sign that America is „respected and prosperous again.“ „No government would ever kiss Biden’s or Obama’s ass this way! Kamala would be giving _Qatar_ airplanes!“
And of course, they love how it „triggers the left.“

This is BS. All one has to do is go to the conservative sub and see what they are saying about it. Over there it’s already been deemed fake news created by a lie. Even though Trump just about confirmed the veracity of this via his tweets.
This is insane. Air force one is special for a lot of reasons unrelated to luxury.
Its got missile defense systems, ECM, and military comms., It can be mid-air refueled, Its hardened against EMP.
Its got its own mini hospital.
This „gift“? Its a suicide pact for a president. Someone will take it out with a home built rocket. Or a cheeseburger will give him a heart issue he would have survived in AF1. this is just dumb to accept on so many levels.
Right now his secret service lead is probably having heart issues.
Just a reminder: The reason AF1 is still an old plane, instead of the new one that was expected to be delivered between 2021-2024, is because Trump personally negotiated the deal back in 2018 and fucked it up.

Another reminder: The plane itself isn’t the issue. The actual planes for AF1 were completed years ago. What has taken years is the process of turning those planes into a secure mobile command center. AF1 is hardened against EMP’s, can refuel in-flight, has a defense suite, has secure communications, has it’s own medical facility with a literal operating room and permanent doctor onboard, etc.
That plane is a Trojan horse. Listening devices everywhere.
