In 2016 Donald Trump said that he „loves the poorly educated“, and they love him too.

      I would have thought someone as ‚rich‘ as this fuckwad wouldn’t ever be caught dead accepting charity, instead trying to buy one of his own with more unnecessary bells and whistles just to flex.

      Normally this is the part where I say in a cheeky tone ‚It’s almost like the founders added the Emoluments Clause for a reason,‘ but frankly that really undersells it.

      This is EXACTLY why the emoluments clause exists. This is the EXACT kind of behavior it is meant to prevent.

      Al Gore really summarized it perfectly into one succinct sentence: „Our Constitution … is intended to protect us against a threat identical to Donald Trump.“
