      Bribery on the highest scale. Nothing says American exceptionalism like not being able to build our own AF-1. Nothing says MAGA failure like actually accepting this as a gift.

      I’m sure that free plane from a semi-hostile country won’t have any spy technology in there whatsoever. A totally safe and trustworthy place to discuss national secrets in. /s

      Is this even allowed? I thought gifts like this were considered owned by the people of the USA under federal law and if trump wants it he has to buy it.

      I guess it won’t matter if Congress won’t enforce the laws and Trump will just fire the people who are supposed to deal with it.

      This is exactly what the Foreign Emoluments Clause was talking about.

      >And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.

      Most presidents in the past would have asked Congress about this, and Congress needs to approve this „deal“ but like most things I doubt Trump’s going to follow the historical guidelines.

      I suspect lawsuits are coming.

      It doesn’t make sense to retrofit this to the requirements of the fleet and then turn it over for private use. What is far more likely is that this plane – which is a standard 747-8i in VIP configuration – stays in exactly that configuration and then becomes Trump’s personal transport, replacing the 757, when he leaves office.

      Under any other president, this would be a presidential gift and remain property of the United States. We all know he is taking personal ownership of this and breaking yet another law.

      Trump library? What’s that going to be, a bunch of SocialTruth posts printed out on nice paper. His administration is make a bunch of decisions on Signal which is probably set to erase the message after a short period of time.

      So the flying Oval Office with access to every state secret will be generously donated to one specific president by a foreign government. Sounds totally legit.

      That’s nice an all, but Air Force One is shielded from EMPs and has tons of other advanced features for defense. 

      Like it doesn’t matter the interior when the defense company is gonna have to rip it out anyway to install the command centers. 

      Like seriously, just wait for the Air Force to finish their new ones.

      This is bribery and failure to care for the people of the United States. The biggest joke of all is the air force will then have to give the plane to Trump after he leaves office.
