Get some from the brand called “steff houlberg” it’s the brand a lot of the hot dog stands here use.

    2. I doubt you can find them in stores in the US, but it might be a „langelænder“ sausage, you could write the Embassy and see if they wanna give out their secret 🙂

Dane here that used to live in the US for 8 years. If you have an Aldi, Lidl or Trader Joe’s in your area, check those stores out. Otherwise check online. There are some butcheries that make Danish style meats in the US and some of them offer shipping.

Just the sausage? Those are Vienna sausages (not the canned ones), cook em on medium heat until you loose patience, to render out the fat and get the skin slightly crispy.

I’ve lived in the US for 20+ years, and I’ve never encountered anything that comes close to a Danish hot dog. As a Dane, I sometimes make some at home. Ketchup, mustard is easy enough, but Danish remoulade is its own kind. Raw onions, easy enough. Some shops have pretty good fried onions. I usually make the cucumber salad myself. Very easy. Hofmann sausages are pretty close. So the biggest bottleneck is the remulade, but even without it, you can get pretty close.

Why would we know where you can buy certain sausages in the US? How does that make any sense?

Hmm, tricky cant find the brands we have here in expats shops, but the condiments and bread you can find here https://nordicexpatshop.com/ .

I did find a shop in the us selling cuts of meat and they seem to have weiner sausage danish style, although i can’t verify the authenticity but might be worth a try https://vikingdelight.com/shop/ .

Or try and write the embassy and inquire on where they got theirs should be willing to help.

      Happy sausageing
