    1. The CBC reported this week that the Tories are sending out fundraising emails that suggest, without evidence, that the Liberal party is monkeying around with the recounts in close races.

      The former MP for Carleton has so far refused to comment on this shameful and dangerous messaging, which calls into doubt the integrity of our electoral system.

      Have any of our useless corporate media outlets picked up this story? Not that I’ve seen..

    2. The article is conflating arguments. How can the press be ‚free‘ when it is funded by the government? It would reflect the views of the funders. That is the same in every organization and has been as long as there have been nations. When you take the king’s shilling, you do the king’s bidding.

      This is not the same as if the argument CBC is valuable. Most people would agree that they have some very good programming, and most people would probably vote to fund it if they could.

      The government going after the independent press is a threat, even if it mostly exists to sell commercials. The government cutting state funding to the CBC is not a threat to press freedom, just to the existence of that organization.
