    1. It probably won’t actually rain on those days. But as a local, I’d love some rain before Malta becomes a desert.

The weather is great. Why be obsessed about something you have no control over😉

    3. Don’t worry about the weather report… If it says it will rain it may or may not rain. Maybe it will rain for 5 minutes or during the night and won’t affect you at all. But tbh some rain would be good, for the fields and also for allergy relief.

    4. You come at the best time of the year. Before the heat, when everything is still green, it’s not so busy… And the rain is probably just a short shower. And probably it’s going to change anyways till next week

Thanks for drawing my attention to this. Hadn’t checked the weather app in a while. I’ll take all the rain I can get before the impending scorch. I’m already a little sunburned from just going about my day.

    6. So firstly, Malta has changeable weather and while this is the wettest May for a while it isn’t unusual to have some rain in May.

Secondly, the best weather forecast for the islands as far as I can tell comes from malteseislandsweather.com but no one has good forecasts for that far in the future here, so the further away you are looking from now the more likely it is to change on the day. The weather for five days out is often not the same when it’s four days away, etc.

Percentage rainfall forecasts are probably not what you think they are, when it says 45% chance of rain that doesn’t mean it’s 45% likelihood of rain but that there is a chance that there will be some rain over 45% of the area covered by the forecast. It may not rain at all, and if it does over 50% of the islands won’t see any of that water.

You’re probably going to be just fine, but bring a rainmac that folds into a pocket / bag, just in case, because when there are showers maybe they are going to be short but heavy.

If it says “50% rain”, that means it might, it might not. If there’s 4 days off 50% rain, that means it rains, on average, 2 days with 2 days of sunshine.

You have lower odds, and less days. Even when it rains here, it doesn’t linger long, and it’s makes the plants look really good.

If it even rains, which it probably won’t, it will most likely be for 5 minutes and extremely light, barely making it to the ground. Rain forecast in Malta is pretty difficult to predict being such a small island and even a fart might blow the rainy clouds away. You’ll be better off in May than in July/August…Summer here feels like hell, damp, sticky and exhausting!

I was there in April and the forecast was quite similar but it didn’t rain at all.

It is windy though so even if it rains it passes by shortly.

I literally yesterday came home from Malta. I was staying there since the end of March. March and early April are definitely not a good time to visit it,but second half of April and literally until yesterday the weather was perfect.

It’s already beach weather, temperatures feel higher than that forecast

    12. Leave your umbrella at home and get a hat and sunscreen. If it rains it will be negligible l.

It’s already getting warm during the day.. in the evening it is a bit chilly (to us Maltese) but it is great weather in my opinion.

    14. It’s the best. And rain in spring means locally for a few minutes. Look at the night sky/ lowest. Malta keeps warm where other countries have warm days but still in spring gets cold by night.

I would Google how to interpret weather maps. Its not that its going to rain, it’s saying there is a 45% chance it might rain.

And with malta being an island a lot of rain doesn’t end up on land.

      Tldr. Calm the fuck down

    16. Malta weather forecasts are hilarious. There might be 5 minutes of cloud or rain but the rest of the time it will be lovely. I wouldn’t worry.
