Congressman Mo Brooks actually bragged about the gerrymandering in 2011. Saying there’s no way now (then) a Democrat can win AL-05.

I’m not surprised, because they have done this elsewhere (TX, NC, just as examples). It’s just sad. I’m glad the new map was approved, and some representation came out of it though.
Robert’s SCOTUS gutted Section 4 of The Voting Rights Act. Therefor pre-clearance is history!

The problem is that getting caught has no repercussions. It just gets corrected. So there is every incentive to default to corruption know that if you get away with it 1 out of a hundred times, it is still a net win.
