A Fox and Friends weekend host, notorious drunk and man who ran two veterans organizations into the ground is appointed Secretary of Defense. What else did anyone expect? I honestly don’t think Trump gives a shit about the millions that have been lost under this man’s watch, or the historic embarrassment of Signalgate. He just cares that Hegseth is a friendly voice from a show that he likes that will parrot anything that he wants said.

    2. I have a hard time believing a cable entertainment channel propagandist who is also an alcoholic is doing this bad of a job running something he has no qualifications to run.

      >The incident happened the same day President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire deal with the Houthis, the Iran-backed rebel group that the Truman’s crew has been battling in Yemen.

      >Hours after Trump’s announcement, the Houthis “took a shot” at the aircraft carrier, a source told CNN. It wasn’t immediately clear whether the shooting was related to the lost fighter jet, an F/A-18F Super Hornet fighter jet worth about $67 million.

      >It was the second jet to go overboard the Truman in as many weeks.

      >On April 28, an F/A-18E Super Hornet was lost after the aircraft carrier swerved to avoid an attack from the Houthis. The plane was being towed in the hangar bay, and the move crew lost control of the aircraft, the Navy said in a statement. The tow tractor also went overboard, according to the statement.

      >A third fighter jet was accidentally shot down over the Red Sea in December by another Navy warship, the USS Gettysburg, raising questions about how well warships and fighter jets in the region are communicating, the Post reported.

      >And in February, the Truman collided with a merchant vessel near Port Said, Egypt, in the Mediterranean Sea, according to the Navy. There were no reports of flooding or injuries, but the ship’s commanding officer were fired following the incident, according to the Post.

      >The dangerous mishaps have raised questions about the Truman’s grueling deployment, which Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has extended twice, the paper reported.

But did the front fall off?

More importantly are they letting Hesgeth drive?

    6. And here, as much as I do not think this admin is the least bit competent, I assumed it was just the Navy having a couple random bad times. But indeed it is his fault; extending deployments is going to make people tired, distracted, they may have to be resupplying stuff they ran out of or making do so I am now suspicious of root cause of an arrestor failure.

    7. Seriously. Let’s be honest. This is 100% Biden’s accident (and most likely a remnant from the Obama presidency.

Why the fuck is this dude still holding any position in government?! The Hillary’s email crowd last all credibility with this dude.

    9. Professionalism, integrity, and courage are supposed to flow from the top in the military. But when the common soldier/sailor looks up today they see a drunk incompetent secretary sharing secrets with who knows who, who fired (and still firing) top generals and admirals, and treats the DoD as a playground. And the incompetence flows down.

The Truman has lost 3 F-18 in this deployment, none to enemy fire. It was also involved in a collision. Time to rotate it back, remove the ones responsible, and rebuild that unit’s professionalism with safety drills until they’re ready to be deployed again.

    10. For scale, then Energy Star program is too expensive and needs to be cut at a 37 million dollar price tag. Suddenly crickets about spending cuts when double that is lost to the sea.

    11. AlivePassenger3859 on

Every time a multi million dollar jet goes into the sea, Hegseth should get one keel hauling. Is that so much to ask?

    12. Double extended deployment?

By that point I barely blame them for having this shit happen.

They’re people not machines. Give them a fucking rest.

Biggest defense budget by miles and we have to double extend carriers and overwork our folks.

    14. What the hell are they doing, pushing them off? What is he doing that’s making formerly competent people suddenly losing planes like this?

There’s more evidence to suggest that it was shot down as opposed to negligence.

I wonder if this coincides with military units getting one year deployment orders ASAP.

Old news. I already knew about this last week, some guy told me in Signal.
